Support Services for AJAC Apprentices

Navigating Your Journey to Apprenticeship Success

We're Here to Help

Our support services for AJAC apprentices encompass a wide range of needs, from resolving classroom issues like tech support for Canvas and differences in learning styles to academic support including tutoring, interpreters, and accessible materials.

The ATS portal aids in logging hours and tracking progress, while employment transition support helps navigate job changes. We address on-the-job training issues, provide emergency funding, and host orientations to ensure apprentices are well-prepared. Additionally, we connect apprentices with college resources to further their education and career goals.

Support Services We Offer Our Apprentices

Academic Support

We offer comprehensive tutoring help, connecting apprentices with instructors for one-on-one sessions to address individual learning needs. Additionally, we provide interpreters for deaf, blind, or deaf/blind apprentices to ensure everyone has equal access to education. To further increase accessibility, we make classroom materials available in various formats, including printouts, quizzes, and language translations.

Classroom Support

Classroom issues include providing technical support for Canvas and other classroom software like Fusion 360, addressing different learning and teaching styles with instructors, and offering feedback on equipment, machinery, projects, and classroom competencies.

On-the-Job Training Support

Our support for on-the-job training issues covers a range of concerns. We assist apprentices with rotation issues and wage progressions, ensuring they receive fair compensation and experience diverse aspects of their trade. We also address any problems with supervisors, help with OJT competencies, and prioritize safety issues to maintain a secure and productive work environment.

Apprentice Tracking System (ATS) Support

AJAC utilizes an apprenticeship tracking system for apprentices to log their on-the-job training hours. We’re happy to help with any questions related to our ATS system including login support, navigating the portal, submitting hours, and tracking your academic progress.

Employment Transitioning Support

Our employment transitioning support assists apprentices in navigating new apprenticeship opportunities if their employer closes down, they get laid off, or the company is bought out. We ensure that apprentices have the resources and guidance needed to continue their career path smoothly, even in times of job uncertainty.

Connection with College Resources and Counseling Services

We facilitate connections with college resources and counseling services, offering apprentices opportunities to pursue post-secondary education through our college partners. We provide guidance on earning an associate’s degree after completing an apprenticeship and information on various types of degrees available. Additionally, we assist with obtaining transcripts, accessing the tutoring department, and exploring additional financial assistance to support their continued education.

Orientations & Info Sessions

We host quarterly online and in-person orientations for new and current apprentices to help them succeed in their apprenticeship journey. These sessions cover essential topics such as navigating AJAC’s classes and on-the-job training, submitting and reporting OJT hours, and familiarizing apprentices with AJAC’s educational style and the technology used in the program.

Emergency Funding

We provide emergency funding support to apprentices, helping them identify available services and guiding them through the necessary documentation process. Additionally, we ensure apprentices are promptly notified of funding approval, offering a lifeline during unforeseen financial difficulties.

Financial Aid & Transitioning Employment Services

Financial Aid Support

Financial Aid may be available to assist active apprentices with the costs associated with their apprenticeship program. Some examples of these costs are things like tuition, fees, supplies, food, housing, and transportation to and from your related supplemental instruction classroom.

There are several types of financial aid that an apprentice may be eligible for depending on their circumstances.
